Inspiration: On 01.24.1972, Gloria Steinem made HERstory by receiving a standing ovation for her inspiring speech at the National Press Club. For decades, from 1908 until 1955, Women reporters were unjustly banned from attending any NPC events. While the all-male club reluctantly allowed Women entry after 1955, they were still subjected to degrading conditions, required to bring their own lunches in brown bags & sit silently in the balcony, unable to voice their questions. Meanwhile, male reporters freely dined in the ballroom, empowered to ask any questions they wished. This moment marked a turning point in the fight for equality & the acknowledgment of Women's voices in journalism. ♀️♀️♀️

On 07.28.1866, Beatrix Potter was born. Before becoming a successful author in a time when women weren't even allowed to vote, Beatrix had a passion & talent for botany. She wanted to pursue her passion professionally, but faced continual rejection because she was a Woman. She started writing & illustrating children's stories, with her 1st book being "The Tale of Peter Rabbit". Twenty more successful books followed. Beatrix was a savvy entrepreneur, patenting the Peter Rabbit doll in 1903. But, she wasn't done yet. She used her self-made fortune to buy a small farm & became a champion sheep breeder. Beatrix made HERstory in 1943 by becoming the 1st Woman Pres of the Herdwick Sheep Breeder's Assoc. Take that! ♀️♀️♀️

On 06.28.26, Betty Skelton, aka "The First Lady of Firsts", was born. Betty made HERstory in aviation, auto racing, & astronautics. Sit tight while I try to list her MANY accomplishments. Betty made her 1st solo flight ✈️ at the age of 12 (illegally). She was the 1st woman to do an “inverted ribbon cut,” flying upside down only 10 ft off the ground, slicing a ribbon with her propeller. In 1954, Betty became the 1st woman test driver for the auto industry. She was the 1st woman boat jumper in the US. In 1956, Betty broke a transcontinental speed record. In 1957, she was the 1st woman Pace Car driver for the Daytona 500. 🏎️ There's more... but I'm out of space. Drive on, Betty. ♀️♀️♀️
