She was the 1st woman to do an “inverted ribbon cut,” flying upside down only 10 ft off the ground, slicing a ribbon with her propeller. In 1954, Betty became the 1st woman test driver for the auto industry. She was the 1st woman boat jumper in the US. In 1956, Betty broke a transcontinental speed record. Emmeline was only fourteen when she was introduced to the Women's Suffrage Movement, & in 1903, she founded the Women's Social & Political Union (WSPU). Along with many other important & notable achievements, Emmeline was a major force behind eventually securing Womens' right to vote. On 09.26.1973, Capt Lorraine Potter made HERstory by becoming the 1st US Air Force Chaplain. When Capt Potter 1st applied for the position, she was told only men could serve as the US Air Force Chaplain. Several weeks later, the gender requirement was dropped (why did it take so long?), and Capt Potter earned the title. Praise be!  ♀️♀️♀️
