She was the 1st woman to do an “inverted ribbon cut,” flying upside down only 10 ft off the ground, slicing a ribbon with her propeller. In 1954, Betty became the 1st woman test driver for the auto industry. She was the 1st woman boat jumper in the US. In 1956, Betty broke a transcontinental speed record.
