So... this girl is Determined... with a capital D. She has her walkin' shoes on, her highly intelligent brain tuned to overload, and she is on her way to playing BIG. She is a bit scared (although no one would ever notice), but she is using that "scared" to fuel her forward. She knows deep within, that she's got this... no matter what... so, I highly recommend staying out of her way. Go BIG or go home, right?!

Shirley Chisholm was born on 30.November.1924, & she transformed HERstory. As the 1st Black Woman elected to the U.S. Congress, the 1st Black candidate for a major-party nomination for President of the United States, & the 1st Woman to run for the Democratic Party's nomination, she inspired countless individuals. “I want to be remembered as a Woman... who dared to be a catalyst for change.” She was that and more! ♀️♀️♀️

On 07.28.1866, Beatrix Potter was born. Before becoming a successful author in a time when women weren't even allowed to vote, Beatrix had a passion & talent for botany. She wanted to pursue her passion professionally, but faced continual rejection because she was a Woman. She started writing & illustrating children's stories, with her 1st book being "The Tale of Peter Rabbit". Twenty more successful books followed. Beatrix was a savvy entrepreneur, patenting the Peter Rabbit doll in 1903. But, she wasn't done yet. She used her self-made fortune to buy a small farm & became a champion sheep breeder. Beatrix made HERstory in 1943 by becoming the 1st Woman Pres of the Herdwick Sheep Breeder's Assoc. Take that! ♀️♀️♀️

On 08.23.1890, Hazel Schmoll was born. Hazel was an American botanist who made HERstory a couple of times. Hazel was the 1st woman to earn a doctorate degree in botany from the University of Chicago. The year was 1932 & it was a time when most people still thought a woman's primary focus should be finding & marrying rather than pursuing an education (sadly, 'tis true!) Hazel made HERstory a 2nd time when she became the 1st person to conduct a systematic study of plant life in southwestern Colorado. Google "astragalus schmolliae", aka "Schmoll's milkvetch." The lady was a wonder! ♀️♀️♀️

On 11.08.1873, Ellen Swallow Richards, the 1st Woman admitted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), made HERstory by graduating with her BS degree. She later became MIT's 1st Woman instructor. Who said men were smarter than Women? Not true...
