She started writing & illustrating children's stories, with her 1st book being "The Tale of Peter Rabbit". Twenty more successful books followed. Beatrix was a savvy entrepreneur, patenting the Peter Rabbit doll in 1903. But, she wasn't done yet. She used her self-made fortune to buy a small farm & became a champion sheep breeder.
