As the 1st Black Woman elected to the U.S. Congress, the 1st Black candidate for a major-party nomination for President of the United States, & the 1st Woman to run for the Democratic Party's nomination, she inspired countless individuals. “I want to be remembered as a Woman... who dared to be a catalyst for change.” She was that and more! ♀️♀️♀️

With this award, Dr. Spencer launched groundbreaking work to unlock how cancer cells divide and, ultimately, how to stop them. Her vision is as fearless as it is focused: to develop strategies that shut down cancer’s growth and pave the way to a cure.

Dr. Spencer’s achievement is more than a milestone in science. It’s a powerful reminder of what happens when Women lead with brilliance, courage, & determination. She’s not just studying cancer. She’s working to SLAY it. ♀️♀️♀️
